Operational update - 11 September 2022 - Black Sea Grain Initiative/Joint Coordination Centre

11 September 2022, ISTANBUL – The Joint Coordination Centre (JCC) authorised today the movement of four outbound vessels carrying a total of 64,657 metric tons of grain and other food products under the Black Sea Grain Initiative.

The four commercial vessels authorised to move tomorrow, 12 September, are:

1) NORD STARK (IMO 9691591) from Chornomorsk to Tarragona, Spain, carrying 27,500 metric tons of wheat.

2) HADAR (IMO 9615028) from Yuzhny/Pivdennyi to Italy, carrying 23,500 metric tons of wheat and 3,500 metric tons of corn.

3) SALLY M (IMO 9152844) from Chornomorsk to Lebanon, carrying 6,857 metric tons of corn.

4) SAFFET AGA (IMO 9376282) from Odesa to Bandirma, Türkiye, carrying 3,300 metric tons of soya beans.

In addition, three more vessels, whose scheduled departure today was delayed, are expected to move tomorrow: AHMET CAN (IMO 9368182) from Chornomorsk to Türkiye, carrying 2,800 metric tons of wheat bran pellets; ORIS SOFI (IMO 8920282) from Odesa to Salaata, Lebanon, and Mersin, Türkiye, carrying 6,000 metric tons of sunflower oil; and WIN SINO (IMO 9278519) from Yuzhny/Pivdennyi to India, carrying 43,500 metric tons of sunflower oil.

Destinations indicated are based on information received at the JCC and may change based on commercial activity. Grains that reach a destination may go through processing and transhipped to other countries.

As of 11 September, the total tonnage of grain and other foodstuffs exported from the three Ukrainian ports is 2,607,511 metric tons. A total of 260 voyages (144 inbound and 116 outbound) have been enabled so far.

The JCC concluded twelve inspections on the following vessels: nine inbound vessels, ADELHEID BR (IMO 9387621), BARONESS (IMO 9588407), FULMAR S (IMO 9370082), GOZO (IMO 9109964), LADY AYANA (IMO 7818377), MAHER (IMO 8806905), PGE RAIN (IMO 9005857), SK FRIENDSHIP (IMO 8909446), and SSI PRIDE (IMO 9250579), and three outbound vessels, ELIANA (IMO 9327310), IRMGARD (IMO 9590967), and QUEEN SARA (IMO 9132507).

The joint teams plan twelve inspections tomorrow on three inbound and nine outbound vessels.

As per procedures agreed at the JCC, all participants coordinate with their respective military and other relevant authorities to ensure the safe passage of commercial vessels under the Black Sea Grain Initiative.

The JCC monitors closely the passage of commercial vessels through the maritime humanitarian corridor. 

Note to editors: The Joint Coordination Centre was established under the Black Sea Grain Initiative in Istanbul on 27 July 2022. It comprises senior representatives from the Russian Federation, Türkiye, Ukraine and United Nations and its role is to enable the safe transportation, by merchant ships, of grain and other foodstuffs and fertilizers from three key Ukrainian ports in the Black Sea to the rest of the world.
