16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence kicked off
16 Days of Activism provides an opportunity to individuals and organizations to call for the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls.
The annual international campaign 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence kicked off on November 25 on the the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and will run until 10 December, Human Rights Day. 16 Days of Activism is an opportunity to call for the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls.
In support of this civil society initiative, the United Nations Secretary-General’s UNiTE by 2030 to End Violence against Women campaign (UNiTE campaign) calls for global actions to increase awareness, galvanize advocacy efforts, and share knowledge and innovations.
The global theme for this year’s 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, which will run from 25 November to 10 December 2021, is “Orange the world: End violence against women now!”
With joined efforts of UN Agencies several municipalities in Turkey are posting the campaign posters to city billboards. Several UN agency representatives will post video messages to social media calling everyone to give support to the campaign.
"Gender-based violence is one of the most pervasive human rights violations all around the world and ending it is a global priority. We count on your support. Please join our efforts. Please say NO to gender based violence" said UN Turkey's Officer in Charge Alvaro Rodriguez in his video message.
