Gender Responsive Planning and Budgeting Project Follow-up Seminar
In the follow-up seminar organized by UN Women on 3-4 May, public officials who participated in the "In-Depth Training Programs" organized within the scope of the project came together again. Experiences in Gender Responsive Budgeting practices and developments in budget programs and indicators of the institutions were shared in the seminar.
The In-Depth Training Programs were held with the participation of 47 public officials from coordinating institutions and 77 public officials from line ministries. In the Follow-up Seminar held with public officials from line institutions who participated in the In-Depth Training programs, the process of implementing gender-responsive planning and budgeting was discussed. Based on the questionnaires distributed before the seminar and the feedback received from the participants during the seminar, it was observed that significant progress has been made in the implementation of gender-sensitive budgeting in institutions and that the trainings have had a positive impact.
In the panel organized during the seminar, experts from the project beneficiary Ministry of Family and Social Services, General Directorate on the Status of Women and co-beneficiary Presidency of Republic, Presidency of Strategy and Budget shared their experiences and insights on Gender Responsive Budgeting Entry Points in the Planning and Budgeting System.
The results of the analysis of the programs of the 4 pilot institutions selected within the scope of the project were shared with the participants by the project experts. The indicators and methods recommended for institutions to consider in their future planning were discussed through these analyses, in which responsiveness to gender equality was measured.
In the group work at the end of the program, areas and entry points for gender-responsive budgeting were discussed by adressing the strategic plans and annual reports of the institutions. The inclusion of gender-disaggregated data in program planning and outcome indicators was one of the prominent points, it was also discussed what kind of improvements public institutions can make in their budget designs to address the differentiated needs of women and men.
Gender Responsive Planning and Budgeting in Türkiye Project
The project, financed by the European Union and the United Nations, with the Ministry of Family and Social Services, General Directorate on the Status of Women as the beneficiary and the Presidency Presidency of Strategy and Budget as the co-beneficiary, has been implemented by UN Women since December 15, 2020. The project aims to systematically and sustainably improve Planning and Budgeting in line with the different priorities and needs of women and men. UN Women has so far reached more than 500 public officials from 17 Ministries through trainings and continues to work on gender mainstreaming in cooperation with public institutions at local and national level.
