Total tonnage of grain and other foodstuffs exported from Ukraine surpasses 1 million metric tonnes

  • Black Sea Grain Initiative - Joint Coordination Centre - Operational Update

27 August 2022, ISTANBUL – The Joint Coordination Centre (JCC) authorized today the movement of seven outbound vessels carrying a total of 210,294 metric tons of grain and food products under the Black Sea Grain Initiative.

The seven commercial vessels authorized to move tomorrow, 28 August, are:

1) SSI INVINCIBLE II (IMO 9434747) from Chornomorsk to China, carrying 49,500 metric tons of barley.

2) SILVER LADY (IMO 9279367) Yuhzny/Pivdennyi to Italy, carrying 39,494 metric tons of corn.

3) FPMC B 201 (IMO 9468229) from Odesa to Egypt, carrying 33,000 metric tons of wheat.

4) AEOLOS (IMO 9228382) from Odesa to Rotterdam, Netherlands, carrying 30,000 metric tons of corn.

5) MELINA (IMO 9550424)  from Yuzhny/Pivdennyi to Constanta, Romania, carrying 27,500 metric tons of corn.

6) DS SOFIE BULKER (IMO 9310604)  from Odesa to Cartagena, Spain, carrying 27,000 metric tons of barley.

7) ANASTASIA (IMO 8926121) from Chornomorsk to Türkiye, carrying 3,800 metric tons of wheat.

Destinations indicated are based on information received at the JCC and may change based on commercial activity.

As of 27 August, the total tonnage of grain and other foodstuffs exported from the three Ukrainian ports is 1,043,286 metric tons. A total of 103 voyages (57 inbound and 46 outbound) have been enabled so far.

The JCC concluded inspections today on nine commercial vessels: six inbound vessels DIGNITY (IMO 9118238), FULMAR S (IMO 9370082), JASMIN QUEEN (IMO 9109861), MASSA J (IMO 9224867), MAVKA (9284647), ORIS PRINCESS (IMO 9119907), and three outbound vessels BELLIS (IMO 9381952), MOHAMAD Y also known as ALI S (IMO 8107000)  and ASCANIOS (IMO 9276169). All vessels were cleared to sail.

The joint teams plan six inspections tomorrow: three inbound vessels LADY EVA (IMO 9008110), SPRING (IMO 8408650), and MAINA (IMO 9699892), and three outbound vessels SEAEAGLE (IMO 9153056), PRETTY LADY (IMO 9223174), and AVIVA (IMO 9410131).

As per procedures agreed at the JCC, all participants coordinate with their respective military and other relevant authorities to ensure the safe passage of commercial vessels under the Black Sea Grain Initiative.

The JCC monitors closely the passage of commercial vessels through the maritime humanitarian corridor.

Note to editors: The Joint Coordination Centre was established under the Black Sea Grain Initiative in Istanbul on 27 July 2022. It comprises senior representatives from the Russian Federation, Türkiye, Ukraine and United Nations and its role is to enable the safe transportation, by merchant ships, of grain and other foodstuffs and fertilizers from three key Ukrainian ports in the Black Sea to the rest of the world.
